The Christmas Truce

Here's one of those stories I'd never heard before either ...
It was December 25, 1914, only 5 months into World War I. German, British, and French soldiers, already sick and tired of the senseless killing, disobeyed their superiors and fraternized with "the enemy" along two-thirds of the Western Front (a crime punishable by death in times of war). German troops held Christmas trees up out of the trenches with signs, "Merry Christmas."

"You no shoot, we no shoot." Thousands of troops streamed across a no-man's land strewn with rotting corpses. They sang Christmas carols, exchanged photographs of loved ones back home, shared rations, played football, even roasted some pigs. Soldiers embraced men they had been trying to kill a few short hours before. They agreed to warn each other if the top brass forced them to fire their weapons, and to aim high...

Obamacare; not for Granny

Back in 2008 I told my 80 year old mother not to vote for Obama specifically because he wanted socialized medicine that would include "End of Life Care" that would turn into "End your life because you're old and thus not worth the money care" but she wouldn't listen.

Next month she'll be 83 and while she's in good health for now, I don't think she still understands that her choice for president in '08 may rob her of the choice to live in the next few years should her health decline.

Sarah Palin pointed out the coming death panels and was demonized, and called "crazy" for thinking such a thing was even remotely possible.

Well back in September of 2009, "We're All Socialists Now" Newsweek confirmed Palin's position.

Now they're quite comfortable with it, so comfortable in fact that one of Obama's favorite liberal mouthpieces, Paul Krugman, has called for the Death Panels to balance the budget.

Just a reminder

Alyssa will be going into surgery today so get those prayers out!

UPDATE: Heard from Alyssa's dad ... he said the following:

We just got home from the hospital. They cancelled her surgery today due to her vomiting all day and having a pain in her groing area. they are wanting us to keep an eye out to make sure its not apendacitis now. im taking it as a sign from God that the surgery was to be postponed, our stress is also postponed. we will find out tomorrow when they want to reschedule it after the holiday. Thank every one of you for your prayer and thoughts. Now im going to getr some much needed sleep.

Myth Fact or Fiction? Conservatives do not care about the poor.

If you listen to the liberal media, Americans especially conservative Americans are mean people that hate the poor. So we need a large benevolent government to forcibly take from the rich to take care of the poor. Here is an article that shows just how wrong that is.

John Stossel; Who give to charity?
